LONDON: A meeting between Tottenham Hotspur against COVID-19 threatened Aston Villa has been postponed with Jose Mourinho’s squad and will face Fulham in a fixed schedule for Wednesday.
Fulham’s meeting against Spurs on December 30 was also postponed due to the spread of the epidemic among Scott Parker’s squad.
“Following Aston Villa’s request to change the schedule, and due to the number of players and staff tested positive for COVID-19 or undergoing isolation by the club, the Premier League has no choice but to reschedule the match,” the Premier League said in a statement today.
“Due to the change in schedule, Spurs will now play at home against Fulham, on Wednesday, January 13 at 20:15 pm.”
Mourinho had previously said it was “almost impossible” for his team to be postponed again with Spurs still involved in four tournaments.
However, the solution reduces Tottenham’s tight schedule with another match against Fulham to be rescheduled after their weekend against Manchester City in the League Cup final on April 25.
