LONDON: Erling Haaland is not ready to be compared to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo whom he considers the best players in football history.
The 22-year-old Borussia Dortmund star has been named the future star of European football alongside Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) player Kylian Mbappe, 22.
Haaland has scored 33 goals in 31 games this season, making him 49 in 49 games since he moved to Dortmund in January 2020.
European giants including Chelsea, Manchester City, Man United and Real Madrid have all made big purchases.
With Dortmund struggling to stay in the hunt for the Bundesliga’s top four, Haaland could be with other clubs this summer.
Many feel the club that managed to get the Norwegian player will dominate the competition for the next decade.
In fact, some consider Haaland to be more poisonous than the older stars – Messi, 33, and Ronaldo, 36.
The Barcelona and Juventus star has dominated the European football stage for almost 15 years and with both clubs witnessing a decline, it is said that Messi and Ronaldo’s tenure has come to an end.
However Haaland disagreed with the proposal saying he had already replaced them.
For him Messi and Ronaldo are the two greatest players ever in the sport of football.
“I just think about myself, improving my game every day.
“I don’t have to talk about Messi or Ronaldo, probably the best players in history.
“There’s still a lot I need to accomplish to get to their level,” Haaland said.
