Mason Mount said Chelsea should thrash Tottenham while remaining satisfied with a 1-0 win in the English Premier League (EPL), early this morning.
The visitors’ victory, now led by Thomas Tuchel, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was completed by Jorginho’s penalty kick in the first half after Eric Dier knocked down Timo Werner.
The Blues released a row of chances while the hosts only started to have a few open late in the game to tie the game.
Chelsea are clearly the better team for them to jump to sixth, four points behind fourth-placed Liverpool.
Mount said: “We should have scored more goals in this match. I personally have some chances, we have some chances where we should be more clinical in front of goal.
“That’s something we need to work on, and so do I.”
Mount enjoyed a more forward role as Tuchel was still trying to get his best eleven and the England midfielder was positive with the experiment.
He told BT Sport: “This is something new for some of us, especially me today. I may play a little bit as a number nine player and need to play the number 10 role to help the midfielder.
“We are all studying but so far it is going well. I failed to find a finisher today so that is something that needs to be worked on within a week.”
Tuchel saw his side dominate the first 45 minutes but Tottenham had more possession of the ball after the break, thus assuming their players had not reached their best.
“Minutes after minutes we lost control of the ball,” said Tuchel.
“But we have never lost the structure and resilience to survive.
“In football, there are many ways to get good performance and if you have to suffer, you have to be prepared and that is what makes me most happy.”
