Kylian Mbappe is happy to have the opportunity to team up with Karim Benzema in the Euro 2020 Championship, noting that there are not many players better than the Real Madrid striker.
Yesterday, Benzema, 33, received France’s first call -up in five years to line up for Didier Deschamps’ squad in the delayed European campaign.
Mbappe, meanwhile, continued his excellent pace this season with a stellar performance in Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) 2-0 win over Monaco in the Coupe de France final earlier this morning, creating a pass to Mauro Icardi’s opening goal before he himself rocked goal at the end of the match.
It was his eighth goal in an open game throughout the Coupe de France campaign when he was involved in five games, surpassing the achievements of the 2017-18 season by seven times.
However, the main focus in the news conference after the match was the return of Benzema to the bosom of the Les Bleus squad.
“I’m very happy. I often say that I really want to play alongside good players,” he said.
“I have never been with Benzema. There are not many players in line with him in this world. He will offer us a lot of contributions.
“He played in Madrid for 10 years so he knows about the pressure, he has experience and high talent. A great player is able to adapt. I’m sure he will adapt quickly.”
